About the Event

On Saturday, November 7, 2026, Christie Lake Conservation Area welcomes runners and their furry companions for a special canicross event. This unique gathering honors Murphy, Steeltown Canicross' first shelter dog to join the group on one of its runs. Over the past two years, more than 200 dogs from Hamilton Animal Services have joined weekly outings organized by dedicated members of Steeltown Canicross.
The scenic trails of Christie Lake Conservation Area provide a perfect backdrop for this heartwarming event. Participants will enjoy a day filled with exercise and camaraderie as they run alongside their four-legged friends through the natural beauty that surrounds them. The race, while celebrating dogs from local shelters, also emphasizes community support and animal welfare.
Before signing up, interested runners are encouraged to review the Race FAQ and registration policies available on the event page. For those who may face unforeseen circumstances preventing attendance, Steeltown Canicross recommends purchasing the Race Roster Enhanced Refund Protection Program (RRERPP). This program offers a refund of the unused registration fee minus the cost of the protection plan itself.
The event features some notable shelter dogs such as Shadow, Wafer, and Violet, who have become familiar faces during weekly runs. Their presence underscores the positive impact Steeltown Canicross has had on local animal welfare efforts over the years.
