Nevada Day Classic

About the Event

Celebrate Nevada Day with the 37th Annual Nevada Day Classic, an iconic race that has been enriching Carson City’s vibrant community since 1989. This year's edition promises to be another memorable one as it continues its tradition of bringing runners and walkers together through a scenic route in west Carson city.
The event features two distances: an invigorating 8K run and a more leisurely yet engaging 2-mile run/walk, both designed to cater to participants at various fitness levels. The race kicks off on October 31st, starting from McFadden Square on Curry Street. Runners will be treated to the historic charm of Carson City’s west side as they weave through its streets.
Costumes are highly encouraged for this festive occasion, adding a playful twist to the event and making it an unforgettable experience for both participants and spectators alike. Each participant receives a custom medal and t-shirt upon completion, with registration capped at 550 spots to ensure everyone gets their keepsakes.
The Nevada Day Classic is organized by Tahoe Mountain Milers in collaboration with Guide Dogs For The Blind, Kaia Fit, Tangerine Design & Web, and Lynn Mentzer Timing. Proceeds from the race go directly towards supporting Guide Dogs For The Blind, contributing to a worthy cause that enhances mobility for those who need assistance.
Registration fees vary based on timing:
- Through September 30th: $40 (8K) or $30 (2-mile)
- October 1st - October 28th: $45 (8K) and $35 (2-mile)
- Packet Pickup / Race Day Registration: $50 (8K), $40 (2-mile)
Packet pickup will take place on Friday, October 30th from 1pm to 4:30pm at the Brewery Arts Center. Credit/debit card payments are accepted for both packet pick-up and race day registration; no cash transactions.
Race start times are set as follows:
- 8K run begins promptly at 8:00am
- The 2-mile run/walk starts shortly after, at 8:10am
Participants will enjoy a staggered start to minimize congestion and confusion. Please note that dogs are not permitted on the race course due to permit restrictions.
The race courses follow similar routes as last year but with an important change – they no longer traverse Carson Street. The new starting point is Curry Street at McFadden Square, leading runners through familiar streets like Robinson, Mountain, Winnie, and Ash Canyon Road for the 8K route. Meanwhile, the shorter course takes participants down William Street to Minnesota before looping back on 10th Street.
Both races offer a mix of flat terrain with some gentle inclines, providing an enjoyable challenge amidst picturesque surroundings. The event promises not only athletic accomplishment but also community spirit and camaraderie among runners and walkers alike.
Join us for the Nevada Day Classic and be part of this cherished tradition that celebrates both sport and community in Carson City!
