NICA Discovery Santa Fe invites children aged 7 to 11 years old who are ready for their first taste of off-road biking. This program is designed specifically for beginners with some prior experience, ensuring they can balance and pedal but may be new to trails. Every Tuesday from July 14 through August 18, the sessions run from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at a convenient location in Santa Fe. The focus of each session is on fun learning experiences that include games and activities aimed at improving bike handling skills and stamina. Participants must bring their own helmet (less than five years old with no visible cracks), closed-toe shoes, and a sturdy bicycle with knobby tires, gears, and two hand brakes. Your child will also need to carry a small backpack for snacks and water, along with items like gloves and eye protection. A replacement tube should be brought on the first day but returned if unused by the end of the program. Proper attire includes athletic pants or cycling shorts for comfort during rides in varied weather conditions. Each lesson is divided into three key parts: opening activities to set objectives, skill-building games, and a wrap-up session where kids reflect on what they’ve learned. Midway through each class, there's a break dedicated to hydration and snack time. Parents should register their child online via BikeReg at bikereg.com or print the necessary documents including a code of conduct and waiver form for review with your child before attending the first session. A link to download these forms is available on the NICA website. NICA Discovery Santa Fe offers an engaging environment where children can learn, play, and explore in a park-like setting without venturing onto challenging trails. By participating consistently throughout the program, kids will build confidence and skills that prepare them for more advanced levels of biking. Make sure your child is ready to embrace new challenges as they embark on this exciting journey into cycling!

About Santa Fe
Learn more about the host city, Santa Fe.
Santa Fe, founded in 1607, is the capital of the state of New Mexico and its principal tourist destination, renowned for its confluence of scenic beauty, long history, cultural diversity, and extraordinary concentration of arts, music and fine dining. With an elevation of 7,000 ft (2,100 m), it is not only the United States' oldest state capital but its highest, sitting at the foot of the spectacular Sangre de Cristo Mountains. And with a population of about 85,000 (2019), it's not the most populous capital, but that's part of its charm. This is not a capital that bustles with politicians but one that bustles with tourists, who flood the narrow streets around the town's plaza in the summer months to take in the beautiful adobe architecture, the unique cultural heritage, and the spectacular art that make Santa Fe one of the world's top travel destinations.
