New Year’s Trail Running Celebration: Embrace the Wilderness of North Florida!
In February 2025, I completed the entire Florida National Scenic Trail at the Fastest Known Time, an achievement that profoundly altered my perspective on trail running. Now, it's my mission to share this incredible journey with others and inspire them in turn.
White Springs, a charming town nestled in north Florida, is our destination for this unique event. Just over an hour’s drive from Jacksonville, Tallahassee, or Gainesville, White Springs offers the perfect blend of history and nature. The Florida National Scenic Trail winds right through its historic downtown area, making it a trail runner's paradise.
The town boasts numerous parks like Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park and Big Shoals State Park, where you can explore miles upon miles of scenic trails. Gar Pond is another nearby gem with an abundance of hiking paths that cater to all levels of runners.
Our New Year’s Trail Running Celebration offers a special training weekend for trail enthusiasts looking to challenge themselves or simply enjoy the beauty of Florida's natural landscapes. Over three consecutive days, participants will embark on double-digit mile runs through some of my favorite trails in north Florida. This event is designed not only as an athletic endeavor but also as a social gathering that fosters camaraderie and unforgettable memories.
The weekend includes guided group trail runs with interactive maps and GPX files to ensure you navigate the terrain effortlessly. You'll be camping out for three nights in primitive conditions, sharing stories around the campfire and forging new friendships amidst stunning wilderness settings.
Accommodation details: Participants are responsible for their own gear including tents or car camping options (no RVs). The group campground provides shower facilities and laundry if needed, located conveniently within White Springs. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed and well-behaved around people and groups.
Pricing is set at $199 per person, offering an immersive trail running experience that combines physical challenge with community spirit.
