For grassroots enthusiasts, membership offers a special discount of $10 per race, making it accessible and encouraging participation throughout the season. NEV Members can even compete free of charge with their exclusive member code, fostering a community that nurtures talent from all levels. The racing categories are designed to accommodate every skill level: - The A Race caters to experienced racers (Cat 1-3) and masters riders seeking a competitive yet approachable pace. - For those looking for more guidance, the B Race is perfect with its focus on Cat 4/5 masters cyclists. This field offers a supportive environment where you can refine your skills at your own pace. New to track racing? The C/Novice Race provides an ideal introduction. With gear restrictions set at 50x15 max, this category ensures beginners gain confidence and develop essential race awareness in a nurturing setting. Northeast Velodrome is committed to supporting new riders with built-in coaching opportunities. Rolling coaches will ride within the race to offer real-time guidance on positioning and tactics, ensuring each participant enjoys a safe and positive first experience while gaining valuable insights from seasoned competitors. Field sizes may vary based on registration numbers, allowing for flexibility in event organization. A women's field might be added if there is sufficient interest, creating an inclusive environment for all participants. For those with specific gear preferences, open gearing will apply to the A/B categories unless otherwise noted. Riders are expected to maintain a safe and respectful racing culture, which we strongly encourage through pre-registration.
