On Sunday, September 27, 2026, Treaty One Nations invites you to participate in the inaugural Orange Shirt Day Treaty One Run & Walk. The event will commence at 11:00 AM from the Assiniboia Residential School Monument located on Academy Road. The route is a poignant and reflective 5 km journey through the historic site of the former residential school, providing participants with an opportunity to pay tribute to Survivors and remember those children who never returned home. The event will begin at Theodore Fontaine Park with an opening ceremony that includes prayer, an Honour Song, survivor acknowledgements from Elders, and a historical reflection on Assiniboia Residential School. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome as the run & walk loops through the surrounding area before returning to Theodore Fontaine Park for a finish-line gathering. This event offers a meaningful way to come together with families, First Nations communities, youth, and members of the public in support of reconciliation and remembrance. The day concludes with refreshments, cultural displays, and educational opportunities at the park.
