ORRRC Gift Exchange 5k

About the Event

This fun low-key event is not your everyday ORRRC race. The Gift Exchange 5k is a fun way to celebrate the holidays through running. Instead of an entry fee, all participants are to bring a wrapped gift (valued around $10). At the end of the race, we will have a giant gift exchange (hence the name of the race) among all participants.

RACE START: 10:00 a.m.

LOCATION: Kettering Recreation Complex, 2900 Glengarry Drive, Kettering, OH 45420.

PRE-REGISTRATION: through RunSignup. Come to the green table at registration to receive your chip on race day.

Minors may be pre-registered on RunSignup by a parent or guardian. Minors must have the liability waiver (Online through RunSignup or the registration sheet at the event) signed by a parent or guardian.

FEES: There are no traditional entry fees for this race. Instead of an entry fee, all participants are to bring a wrapped gift valued around $10 to be entered in the gift exchange.

AWARDS: All participants will receive a gift as part of the gift exchange. Overall male and overall female winners will receive a special gift in addition to the exchange gift. Please note: do not bring alcoholic beverages or adult gifts to this race – this is a family-friendly event and children may receive your gift during the exchange.

Race Day Registration: available online until approximately 15 minutes before race start time; hard copy registration sheets also available if needed. We recommend you arrive at least one hour before the race to park, register, and warm-up prior to the race start.

VOLUNTEERS: Meet some new friends and have a great time while making a valuable contribution to the local running community by volunteering at this event. If you would like to help, please sign up on the volunteer tab, and we’ll be sure to find a job for you! Volunteers may participate in the gift exchange if they bring a gift.

About Kettering

Learn more about the host city, Kettering.

Kettering is a town of 60,749 people in north Northamptonshire. Kettering owes much of its heritage and growth to the arrival of the railway during the mid-1800s. Today the town is again rapidly expanding, this time as a result of the A14, which connects the M1 with several ports on the east coast. Many new housing developments and large industrial estates can be found on the outskirts of the town. Kettering is home of Weetabix's UK breakfast cereal production.
