Pagan Midwinter Marathon

Nestled in the northeastern corner of Dartmoor, Pagan Trails invites runners to explore the mystical and mythical landscapes where ancient stone circles and pagan sites dot the terrain. Chagford, with its lush valleys cradling the Upper Teign and Bovey Rivers, sets the stage for an immersive journey through history.
The Marathon route stretches over 28 miles, weaving through rugged moorland and past centuries-old sacred sites. This challenging course features more than 1500 meters of ascent, offering runners a true test of endurance in winter conditions. Meanwhile, the Half Marathon, at well over 14 miles, includes nearly 700 meters of elevation gain as it winds through similar terrain.
Both events start early on race day at 8:30am, allowing participants to experience the unique atmosphere of Dartmoor during midwinter. Each marathon entrant receives a GPS tracker for detailed performance analysis and safety assurance.
