Petzl Night Trails 10K - Coombe Abbey

Nestled on the outskirts of Coventry, Coombe Abbey Park offers an enchanting setting for runners seeking adventure under the stars. Organized by Coventry City Council and managed within the park's sprawling grounds, this unique 10k event invites participants to experience a trail that winds through woodland, meadows, and over grass fields.
The race takes place in the evening, with the promise of darkness falling as competitors run. Participants are required to bring either head or chest-mounted torches for safety reasons; no torch means no entry into this nighttime adventure. The event is sponsored by Petzl, renowned for their high-quality lighting gear used by top ultra runners worldwide.
The course features a mix of terrain including exposed tree roots and uneven surfaces, with several gates along the way to navigate. While not hilly in nature, it offers undulating stretches that provide scenic views throughout your run. Registration tiers are available: £16 before August 30, 2025, and £21 thereafter. Unaffiliated entrants will be charged an additional £2, though joining a local running club or the Big Bear Brigade can earn you discounts on future entries.
Unlike other events in this series, Coombe Abbey Park offers biodegradable cups at water stations for hydration needs along the route. Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable containers if they prefer.
The event has raised funds for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children's Charity through an optional donation feature during sign-up, with 100% of proceeds going directly to support seriously ill children and their families across the UK.
In a nod towards sustainability, Earth Runs offers participants a Big Bear Tree Token instead of traditional medals. Each token is embedded with wildflower seeds for home planting, symbolizing growth and renewal while also contributing to reforestation efforts.
Parking at Coombe Abbey Park costs up to £3 per hour and includes access to toilet facilities near the event headquarters.
