PHOENIX - South Wales - Are We There Yet?

About the Event

On Sunday, September 13th, 2026, Phoenix Running South Wales invites you to explore the picturesque Parc Cwm Darran in Deri, Bargoed for an unforgettable running experience. The venue offers a flexible and inclusive environment where runners of all levels can participate at their own pace.
The event features a meticulously measured out-and-back course that spans 5.3 kilometers (or approximately 3.28 miles) through the serene landscape of Parc Cwm Darran, starting just behind the cafe near its entrance. The route winds southward along tree-lined paths and skirts around the tranquil lake before heading north towards Fochriw. Participants can choose to run as little or as much as they like within a generous 7-hour window.
Whether you're aiming for a quick lap at 5 kilometers, tackling half-marathon distances, pushing yourself through marathon lengths, or even venturing into ultra-distance territory, the event allows runners and walkers alike to set their own goals. The course features gentle elevation changes of about 63 meters per loop, providing both challenge and scenic beauty.
Phoenix Running South Wales ensures a seamless experience with their innovative 'rock up and run' start times, eliminating unnecessary waiting for those who arrive early or accommodating latecomers without pressure. Should you require specific start time adjustments based on your planned distance, the organizers are happy to work out arrangements that best suit your needs.
As part of the event's commitment to recognizing achievements in style, all participants receive a bespoke finisher’s medal celebrating their accomplishment. However, for those looking to reduce costs while still enjoying full support and amenities, Phoenix Running offers a 'no medal' entry option starting at £20. This includes access to epic aid stations with refreshments, same-day race results, digital bibs, athlete profiles on the Phoenix World platform, and electronic finisher certificates.
The event's flexibility means that you don't need to commit to a specific distance in advance; simply come out for one lap and see how far your legs can carry you. With limited spots available, it’s recommended to secure your entry early to avoid disappointment.
Registration opens at 7:30am with staggered starts from 8:30am onwards. The event is licensed under Welsh Athletics rules and the course has been officially measured by AUKCM (Association of UK Course Measurers). Join us for a day filled with scenic beauty, community spirit, and personal challenge.
Participants are encouraged to engage fully in this unique running adventure where every stride counts towards your own personal best.
