Centreville Community Park Fundraiser: A Unique Running Experience
This Saturday, September 12, 2026, Centreville Community Park invites runners and walkers for an unforgettable fundraising event. Limited to the first 125 registrants, this race promises a rewarding experience with all funds raised going directly towards maintaining and enhancing the park.
The course, predominantly shaded, offers a mix of terrain including pressure dust gravel (70%), gravel track (15%), and natural trail-groomed grass field (15%). Each 500-meter section is clearly marked to ensure smooth navigation. The elevation gain per 2.5 km loop averages about 11 meters, making for an exceptionally flat course.
Participants must be at least 12 years old by race day for the 5km and 10km events or 16 years old for the 6-hour event. Early bird pricing is available until August 12th: $44.38 for both 5km and 10km, and $65.97 for the 6-hour event. After this date, fees increase to $55.18 for 5km/10km and $76.76 for 6 hours.
Upon arrival, all participants receive a race bib, safety pins, and numbered lap sticks (2 for 5km, 4 for 10km). The event includes meal tickets, ensuring you have sustenance throughout the run or walk. The start times are set to minimize congestion: 6-hour runners at 10 am; 10km participants at 11 am; and 5km walkers also starting at 11 am with a later wave of 5km runners at 11:30 am.
Parking is conveniently located, with 95 spots in the main lot on Sherman Belcher Rd and an additional 40 spaces on Saxon Rd. Carpooling is encouraged to ease traffic flow. No dogs or bicycles are allowed on the course due to safety concerns for runners/walkers.
First aid stations will be available at key points, ensuring your well-being during the event. Full indoor washrooms with private stalls await you before and after the race; however, please arrive prepared as changing facilities are not provided within these spaces.
Aid stations offer water and Gatorade every 25 meters to keep you hydrated throughout the course. For those engaging in longer events, additional nutritional snacks will be available around noon for the 6-hour participants.

Prizes and awards await finishers—finisher medallions personalized with your name are given out, while overall top male, female, and non-binary participants in each category will receive additional accolades. Multiple draw prizes for both 5km/10km and 6-hour events start around noon and 4:15 pm respectively.
