The Chiggy Ultra 2026 returns to Advocate Harbour in Nova Scotia on October 4th. This event offers runners the most challenging vertical gain of any race in the Maritimes at 2200m per loop, taking place within TheCape Chignecto Provincial Park. Race morning finds participants gathered around the park's scenic trails under a canopy of autumn foliage. Temperatures hover near 11°C with humidity levels high at 78.9%, making for a comfortable yet humid start to your run. Expect light winds, averaging 17.6 km/h, which could make navigating single track technical terrain more challenging but also exhilarating. The Chiggy Ultra has been running since its inception and continues to grow in popularity among local runners who support the event's charitable cause. In 2025 alone, over a thousand participants will join for this unique race experience that not only tests physical limits but also fosters community spirit through shared challenges and achievements. The course venue is TheCape Chignecto Provincial Park. For the One Loop run, it begins with McGahey Canyon trail before heading counter-clockwise around Cape Chignecto, offering approximately 2200 meters of vertical gain over a distance of just over 51 kilometers. This loop will take you past three aid stations and through areas known for their mud and technical single track trails. For those seeking an adventure, the Two Loops option starts at midnight on Saturday October 3rd, promising twice as much thrill with double the vertical gain and distance covered. Finally, the Three Loop challenge is undeniably the toughest in the Maritime provinces, rewarding only a few brave souls who complete this grueling course. The Rockhammer, an 8 km short but steep fun run starting at 7 AM on race day, caters to newcomers or those looking for a quick and exciting loop. It features hills, technical terrain, two downhill sections, and plenty of views.
