Pisgah Legal Services 4th of July Picnic and Rides
About the Event
Experience the scenic beauty of Asheville, North Carolina, at the 2025 Gravel Ride and Family Ride events. Both rides start and finish at the historic Patton Parker House, offering participants a charming setting for their journey. The Gravel Ride is an exhilarating adventure through rugged terrain with a total distance of 38 miles and over 4,000 feet of elevation gain. Riders will pass through Upper Herron, where they can refuel at one designated rest stop located at the top. The route details are available online for your convenience. For those who wish to compete in a non-competitive yet challenging way, timed segments on gravel sections have been set up. Specifically, Vance Gap, Upper Herron, and Webb Cove offer opportunities to rack up points with Strava. To be considered for prizes, riders must upload their rides by July 4, 2025, at noon via Strava. Prizes for the fastest combined times across these segments include cash from Siemens Family Law, Cane Creek gift certificates, Gravelo gift cards, and Chop Shop gift cards. A post-ride picnic will celebrate your efforts with awards presented to winners. The Family Ride is a more relaxed option suitable for all ages, covering 7.1 miles of quiet streets, bike lanes, and multi-use trails with just 561 feet of climbing. Additional family members can join the fun at no extra cost beyond their individual registration fee; junior riders under 18 ride free. Both rides are insured by USA Cycling, ensuring a safe experience for all participants without requiring a USA Cycling license. To secure your spot and enjoy a Chop Shop Butchery lunch (with vegetarian options available), register by 4:00 PM on July 1, 2025. Proceeds from the event support Pisgah Legal Services, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing legal assistance. Donations are tax-deductible as allowable by law; consult your tax advisor for specific details. Join us in celebrating nature and community at these unique events!
