Pisgah Monster-Cross Challenge

About the Event

Experience the rugged beauty of Pisgah National Forest at the Pisgah Monster-Cross Challenge, an unparalleled all-road endurance race that spans 69.2 miles with over 8,700 feet of climbing. This unique event offers cyclists a chance to explore some of the finest gravel roads within the national forests, providing both thrilling challenges and breathtaking scenery.
The course weaves through the heart of Pisgah National Forest, presenting riders with diverse terrain that ranges from smooth paved paths to rugged off-road sections. Along the way, participants will encounter large orange arrows marking key turns, ensuring a clear path despite the wilderness setting. Orange Pisgah Productions branded tape also confirms your route at critical points.
Three well-stocked rest areas are strategically placed along the course: one at mile 19.7, another at mile 35.7, and the final one at mile 46.5. These areas offer a variety of sustenance including fresh fruit, snacks, electrolyte drinks, and water, all necessary for maintaining energy levels during this grueling journey.
With no drop-bags or sag wagon available, racers are expected to carry their own essentials. The event is chip-timed with number plates required on handlebars in front of cables; ensure they are visible at the finish line as your time will not be recorded otherwise.
Safety and respect for local traffic laws remain paramount. No electric-assist bikes (E-bikes) are allowed, ensuring a true test of endurance and skill. The event director reserves the right to disqualify participants if necessary.
The Pisgah Monster-Cross Challenge welcomes riders with an open invitation to push their limits in this one-of-a-kind terrain. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or looking for your next big adventure, this race promises unforgettable moments amidst nature’s grandeur.
Sign-in and registration will take place from 5:00 PM on Friday through 7:30 AM on Saturday at the field directly across US276 from Davidson River Campground in Pisgah Forest. Directions are provided to ensure easy access for participants traveling from Asheville, Spartanburg, or Charlotte.
Please note that parking is limited and overflow parking will be available at the Pisgah Ranger Station and Visitor Center. Follow all traffic controls diligently as they may not always be present; obey stop signs and remain vigilant on the roads.
The event runs rain or shine, so come prepared for any weather conditions. For those seeking accommodations nearby, options include the Sunset Motel within Davidson River Campground, Hampton Inn Brevard, and Holiday Inn Express Brevard. Refunds are not available once registration is completed; please consider this carefully before signing up.
Join us on Saturday at 8:00 AM for an event that challenges you physically while immersing you in the natural wonders of Pisgah National Forest.
