Poca Go!, presented as part of the Virginia State Parks Adventure Series, is set within the enchanting landscapes of Pocahontas State Park. Located in Chesterfield, VA, this unique enduro-style mountain bike race takes place on the park’s renowned Swift Creek single-track flow trails. The event is entirely staffed by dedicated volunteers from the local trail community and serves as a vital fundraiser for maintaining these beloved mountain biking paths. Poca Go! returns to action in 2026, offering participants an exhilarating day filled with diverse terrain challenges and scenic views. This year’s race will feature seven timed stages on mostly downhill portions of Swift Creek trails, interspersed by non-timed transfer segments that allow for strategic planning between stages. The race format includes: 1: JT Short Loop – A challenging yet accessible route suitable for various skill levels. 2: Timberdoodle DH – An expert-level descent with technical features and thrilling drops. 3: Bell Lap – A familiar loop designed to test riders’ endurance and speed. 4: Lost Spring – Navigating through rugged terrain, this stage demands precise handling skills. 5: Blue Jay Way – For those seeking a mix of downhill excitement and steady riding. 6: Moonshine Run – An intense descent with varied obstacles for adrenaline seekers. 7: Blueberry DH – A beginner-friendly route that still offers technical challenges. Participants in the Beginner and Middle School Youth categories will complete Stages 1-4 and Stage 7, covering approximately 12 miles. Meanwhile, all other participants will tackle the full course of seven stages, totaling around 15 miles. Registration for the kids race is open now; sign up here to secure your spot in this family-friendly event hosted by Poca Go! founder Robyn Ritter. Supporting organizations include: - Dominion Energy - Friends of Pocahontas State Park (FoPSP) - rvaMORE - Patient First - Carytown Bicycle Co. - Pedal Power - Blue Ridge Cyclery - Riverside Cycling - LILO Collections - Running Fire Design - Run Ride Race This race is a fun and community-driven event, with the primary goal of fostering camaraderie among riders while raising funds for trail maintenance.
