The event spans a challenging 120 miles across North Eastern Kansas, where rolling hills and picturesque valleys await your exploration. Along this route, you'll encounter remnants of eight historic trails: The Pony Express, Oregon, California, Mormon, Otoe-Missouri Trails, Fort Leavenworth Military Road, St. Joseph Road, and the Overland Stage Coach. Stone markers and old structures from long-abandoned towns, campsites, and school districts offer a glimpse into the past. Marysville, Kansas serves as your starting point, where you can visit the original barn that now houses a museum in downtown area. Here, you'll feel like part of history as you saddle up and ride through the countryside, passing by small towns steeped in heritage. Whether you're tackling the full 120 miles or choosing from the available shorter routes—65 miles or 35 miles—you are sure to encounter a diverse landscape that challenges both body and spirit. The route is designed for self-sufficient cyclists who relish pushing their limits, but don't worry about being truly isolated. Support crew locations ensure you can resupply along the way. The race provides an authentic taste of what it was like to be part of the Pony Express era, with a blend of natural beauty and historical significance.
