Immerse yourself in the beauty of Cahaba Mountain, nestled within the rolling foothills of the Appalachian range, as you lace up your shoes and prepare to tackle one of Alabama's most scenic trail races. This course offers runners, ruckers, and hikers a unique blend of challenging terrain that winds through lush forests and along winding trails. The race features two distances: a 5K and a full 5-mile loop. Both routes trace the natural beauty of Cahaba Mountain but offer distinct challenges; while the shorter distance cuts off certain technical sections for a more manageable course, the longer route is an unbroken circuit that showcases every twist and turn of this historic landscape. Participants start in the parking lot at Trussville Senior Citizens Center and are greeted by a trail teeming with switchbacks, elevation changes, and varied terrain. The 5-mile loop presents runners with technical single-track paths filled with roots and rocks, making sturdy footwear such as trail shoes or hiking boots essential for navigating this challenging course. Aid stations will be strategically placed along the route to ensure that all competitors remain fueled throughout their journey. One aid station is located near the halfway point of both routes, while additional support can be found at the start/finish area where you'll also pick up your race packet on event day starting from 6:45 AM. Competitors who sign up for both distances will not only enjoy an extended adventure covering a total distance of approximately 8.5 miles but will receive a complimentary RDM Tumbler Mug as well, provided they register separately for each distance rather than combining them under one entry type. The race culminates in a celebration of achievement with awards given to the top three overall male and female finishers in both distances along with age group winners receiving free memberships at 24e. All participants will receive a memorable finisher's medal, enhancing the sense of accomplishment that comes from conquering this challenging course. Join us for an unforgettable morning on Cahaba Mountain where nature provides the backdrop to your personal bests and new challenges await around every bend. This event is limited to 150 competitors, so secure your spot early to ensure you don't miss out on a day filled with breathtaking scenery, rewarding competition, and camaraderie among fellow trail enthusiasts.
