The Ride for Socks returns once again, offering runners an exciting opportunity to lace up their shoes on April 29th. This beloved annual event promises a memorable experience with its scenic routes through the picturesque coastal areas of Mississippi. Starting and finishing at the Latimer Community Center located at 10908 Tucker Rd in Ocean Springs, MS 39565, participants can expect to be greeted by friendly faces from the Gulf Coast Bicycle Club. Register early as spots are limited; the first 80 registrants will receive a pair of stylish Primal socks. The race offers three challenging yet rewarding routes: a shorter 28-mile course for seasoned runners and those looking for a moderate challenge, a 43-mile option perfect for more experienced athletes seeking an endurance test, and a full 62-mile route designed to push even the most dedicated competitors. Routes are clearly marked with police traffic control and road signs; however, it is recommended that participants download their routes onto their GPS devices or smartphones. Race day begins at Latimer Community Center by 7:30 am for check-in, followed by a sharp start at 8 am. Online registration remains open until just before the race starts to ensure flexibility for last-minute registrants. Same-day paperless registration is available through Race Roster but requires proof of payment and signing a liability waiver. Tented rest stops along the course provide runners with essential supplies including snacks, hydration stations, and cold towels. Clean port-a-potties are also conveniently located at each stop to ensure comfort during the race. Safety is paramount, so SAG vehicles will be on hand to assist riders as needed. Post-race festivities continue at Blue Cliff College where participants can enjoy a well-deserved meal of pizza and relax with chair massages. The event is weather permitting, meaning it's best enjoyed in good conditions; however, safety remains the top priority for all participants. Join us for an unforgettable day filled with camaraderie, scenic views, and a shared passion for running. We look forward to seeing you there!
