Rim Rock 50 Mile Trail Challenge

Welcome to the second annual Rimrock 50 Mile Trail Challenge, set to take place on Saturday, May 15, 2027, at Skyline Wilderness Park in Napa Valley, California. This ultra-distance race is not just a test of endurance but an immersive experience designed for trail runners seeking adventure and breathtaking scenery.
The course winds through the rugged terrain of Skyline Wilderness Park, extending into the expansive Napa Open Space Preserve and the recently opened Suscol Headwaters Trail System. Each loop offers unique challenges with relentless climbs, oak-covered ridgelines, and panoramic views stretching across Napa Valley’s rolling hillsides. The trail is a mix of shaded forests and exposed stretches, providing varying conditions that runners must adapt to throughout the day.
Participants will start at 5:30 AM sharp from Skyline Wilderness Park, pushing themselves through two full loops before tackling an additional 10k run for those participating in the complete distance. This year’s event also features a shorter but equally challenging option with one loop covering approximately 25 miles for runners looking to experience part of this epic journey.
The race begins under the guidance of Trail Squirrel Adventures, who emphasize preparation and respect for both nature and fellow participants. A mandatory pre-race briefing at 5:20 AM ensures all competitors are informed about course details, safety guidelines, and any last-minute updates before starting their adventure.
Race day amenities include drop bag stations near start/finish areas and designated crew access points to support runners during this grueling yet rewarding journey.
