Explore the picturesque landscapes and rich history of four Delaware river towns on this unique cycling adventure! The 12th annual River Towns Ride invites you to pedal through Wilmington, Historic New Castle, Historic Delaware City, and historic Chesapeake City, Maryland. Choose from a full 62-mile route for a gold medal or opt for shorter distances—bronze (20 miles) or silver (32 miles)—to earn your own medal. Start whenever the journey suits you best; no official start line is set. Begin in any of four designated towns: Downtown Historic New Castle, Downtown Historic Delaware City, historic Chesapeake City, or Riverfront Wilmington at the DuPont Environmental Education Center on the Markell Trail. Each town offers a Signature Snack and water stations to keep you fueled. The course features multiple routes that are mostly flat, allowing for an enjoyable ride through diverse terrains. Your wristband will be marked in each of the four towns as proof of your journey’s completion: Wilmington Riverfront, Historic New Castle, Delaware City, and historic Chesapeake City, Maryland. Enjoy the scenic views of riverside paths and charming small-town vibes on routes like the Markell Trail and Castle Trail, open to both cyclists and pedestrians. The Markell Trail connects the Wilmington Riverfront with Historic New Castle, while the Castle Trail links Historic Delaware City to historic Chesapeake City, Maryland. Post-ride festivities await at Dolly Spanker's (30 Clinton St., Del. City, DE 19706), where you can celebrate your achievement with a complimentary first beer if you're over 21. Ride on the day and time that suits you best—SAG support is available from 9 AM to 3 PM. Medals will not be awarded after 3 PM, so plan accordingly for your start time based on which distance goal you choose. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just looking for an adventure with friends, this ride promises a memorable experience through some of Delaware’s most beautiful settings.
