Rolling of the Bulls 5K

The Rolling of the Bulls 5K returns to West Peoria, Illinois on August 15th, 2026. This five-kilometer race is a part of the city's vibrant summer events calendar and attracts runners from around the region.
Race morning in West Peoria finds participants gathering at Memorial Park near downtown. The park offers scenic views with its lush greenery and walking paths that wind through the neighborhood, creating an atmosphere that’s both familiar and invigorating for locals and visitors alike. As 7am approaches, the air cools slightly to a comfortable 18 degrees Celsius, making it ideal racing conditions.
This event has been running since 2015, cementing its place in the community calendar. In its inaugural year, just over two hundred participants took part; now, nearly five times as many join each August for this race that benefits local charities and scholarships. The funds raised support educational programs aimed at empowering youth in West Peoria.
The course venue is Memorial Park’s expansive hard surface pathway, which ensures a consistent run experience. Participants start from the park's main entrance on Main Street and follow the path through the neighborhood to its conclusion near the city hall. Though the terrain is relatively flat with minimal elevation changes, there are some notable features like the historic fountain that adds a touch of charm along the route.
Aid stations will be strategically placed throughout the course for hydration needs, ensuring runners stay well-fueled and hydrated during their journey. The weather forecast predicts an average temperature around 23 degrees Celsius but with humidity levels at 74%, it might feel warmer than expected. Strong winds averaging nine miles per hour could also make running a bit challenging.
The Rolling of the Bulls 5K offers three distances: one mile walk, five-kilometer run/walk for everyone else, and a special Prowler Skaters Only event.
