The Lucas Rothenberger Memorial Run is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about substance use disorder and promoting recovery. Organized by Friends of Recovery Delaware & Otsego Counties (FOR-DO), the Rothenberger family, and their community supporters, this run aims to educate participants on prevention, treatment, and recovery strategies. The race offers three distinct events for all ages: a 1K Fun Run/Walk, a vibrant 5K Color Run/Walk, and an invigorating 10K Race. Participants can enjoy the scenic surroundings of Neahwa Park while supporting those affected by substance use disorder. Families are welcome to join in with activities such as playground fun for kids or simply relaxing and listening to live music. Registration is available online until August 29th at 9am, ensuring early registrants receive a commemorative t-shirt and wristband. Day-of registration will be held from 7:30am-8:30am on September 5th in Neahwa Park for those who prefer to sign up last minute. The event offers competitive pricing with pre-registration at $20, $25, and $30 for the 1K Fun Run/Walk, 5K Run/Walk, and 10K Race respectively. Day-of registration prices are slightly higher: $25, $30, and $35. After crossing the finish line, participants can join in a post-race celebration featuring food, snacks, refreshments, live music, and an awards ceremony for top performers across various age groups. Prizes include cash rewards of up to $50 value for first-place male and female runners in both 5K and 10K races.
