Join the community of supporters and runners as we celebrate the 10th Anniversary Run for ALD, "Cure the Boys," on Saturday, November 21st, 2026. This unique event, held at Creve Coeur Park near St. Louis, Missouri, is dedicated to raising awareness and vital funds for adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), a rare genetic disease that predominantly affects young boys. The race offers both in-person participation starting at 9:00 AM from the picturesque setting of Creve Coeur Park and an option for virtual runners who can complete their distance on their own schedule. Participants are encouraged to form teams, fostering camaraderie among friends, family, and colleagues as they contribute to a greater cause. All registered participants will receive a free event T-shirt if they register by October 21st, ensuring everyone looks the part while running for an important mission. The funds raised from this event go directly to the University of Minnesota Leukodystrophy Center for ALD Research, supporting groundbreaking work aimed at early identification and innovative therapies. Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) is a progressive genetic disorder that severely impacts about 1 in every 17,000 boys. The condition often leads to severe neurological symptoms which can be fatal if not diagnosed promptly and treated effectively. This event was inspired by the journey of Nicholas, who underwent a successful bone marrow transplant at the University of Minnesota Children's Hospital to halt his ALD progression. Beyond race registration, there are multiple ways for supporters to contribute financially or through donations made directly online via the "Donate" tab on our website. Checks can also be mailed to Knockout ALD’s address in Chesterfield, MO, helping us avoid processing fees and maximize contributions towards research efforts. By participating in this meaningful run, you join a decade-long effort dedicated to advancing treatments for ALD and supporting families affected by this rare disease. Let's come together on November 21st to make strides toward curing the boys impacted by adrenoleukodystrophy. Join us as we celebrate ten years of progress and continue our commitment to finding better therapies, earlier diagnoses, and ultimately a cure for ALD.
