Run for Our Heroes 5K

The Run for Our Heroes 5K returns to Rhinelander on September 26th in the heart of Wisconsin. The race starts at CAVOC Park, nestled within the city limits where runners can enjoy a picturesque setting amidst trees and open fields. On that crisp Saturday morning, participants gather under clear skies with temperatures expected around 17 degrees Celsius, creating an inviting atmosphere for both seasoned athletes and newcomers.
This event has been running since its inception in 2016, growing each year to now attract over 350 participants who come together to support Northwoods Veterans Homestead. The race benefits veterans and their families by raising funds and awareness for the local veteran community. It stands as a testament to community spirit and dedication.
The course follows firm and slightly soft terrain through CAVOC Park, offering a mix of paved paths and gravel trails that showcase Rhinelander's natural beauty while providing an enjoyable run or walk experience. The 5K starts at precisely 10:15 AM with runners heading out from the park’s central entrance. Participants will find aid stations at key points along the route to stay hydrated, ensuring a smooth journey.
On race morning, expect mild conditions with average winds of around 11 kilometers per hour and high humidity levels of nearly 76%. The temperature ranges between 12.1 degrees Celsius in the early morning and peaks at 21.8 degrees during mid-morning hours, making for comfortable running weather as it feels like a cool autumn day.
