The course stretches westward, following an old railroad path that offers scenic views of the lake and surrounding prairie.
This race has a rich history, having been organized annually since its inception in 2013. It attracts hundreds of participants each year who come together not just for exercise but also to support the Prague Rescue Squad. The event is deeply rooted in community, fostering camaraderie among locals and visitors alike as they celebrate their shared commitment to safety.
The course venue offers a varied yet manageable terrain. Runners will traverse hard and dry surfaces along the old railroad path, which provides both flat stretches and gentle elevation changes. Alongside the route are notable features such as landmarks that mark significant points in Prague’s history, including the ghost town of Rescue westward from Czechland Lake.
The race includes three distances: a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk covering approximately 1.6 kilometers, a 5K for those seeking a bit more challenge, and an 8 Mile route which measures about 12.9 kilometers. Each participant receives a Run to Rescue T-shirt upon pre-registration by July 25th; entries after that date are not guaranteed the shirt.
Participants will start at Czechland Lake, with different groups setting off according to their chosen distance: runners and walkers in the 8 Mile race begin at 8 AM, followed closely by those participating in the 5K at 8:10 AM. The shortest option is reserved for early birds who take part in the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk starting at 8:15 AM.
The weather on race day will be warm with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 19 degrees Celsius to a maximum of 28.5 degrees Celsius, feeling generally comfortable due to an average wind speed of about 12 kilometers per hour and low humidity levels around 72%.
