About the Event

Experience the heart of Bay City at the 8th annual Runnin’ with the Law Race Series, an event that combines community spirit with athletic challenge. Organized by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 103, Consumers Energy, and Blue Line Liquidations, this race series offers a variety of distances to cater to runners and walkers alike.
The main event takes place along the scenic nature trails in Hampton Township, providing participants with breathtaking views and an enjoyable run through natural landscapes. The Hero Run covers 9.11 miles, honoring those who serve and protect our communities. For those looking for a shorter distance, there’s the Felony Apprehension race at 5 miles or the Foot Pursuit event over 5K.
Participants are also invited to join the Jaywalking walk, which is another 5K route designed specifically for walkers. The Police Academy offers an introductory experience with a quarter-mile run/walk suitable for children aged ten and under, encouraging young participants to get involved in community events from a young age.
After completing your chosen race, stick around for the Public Safety Showcase where you can meet local law enforcement officers and learn more about safety initiatives within the community. This event is an excellent opportunity to engage with first responders who dedicate their lives to ensuring public security and well-being.
In addition to in-person races, Runnin’ with the Law now offers a virtual race series for those unable to attend on race day. Participants can complete their chosen distance from September 6th through September 11th at their own pace, enjoying the flexibility while still supporting the cause. All registrants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and finisher medal upon completion.
Registration is highly encouraged before September 10th for early bird discounts on race day essentials like shirts and medals. On-site registration will be available but comes with an additional fee. Post-race refreshments are provided to all participants, ensuring everyone has the energy needed after their run or walk.
For those interested in camping at Finn Road Park during the event weekend, contact Ellen Lutz for site reservations starting April 1st. The park offers a convenient location near race day activities and features a campground with boat launch access.
