Santa Run - North

Christmas is coming, and with it arrives the most enchanting 2.5k or 5.0k fun run at Durham Amateur Rowing Club. This festive family-friendly event invites runners to don their Santa suits, reindeer antlers, elf ears, and any other creative Christmas costumes for a day filled with joyous cheer.
The race takes place along the picturesque River Wear, offering stunning views of Durham Cathedral as you jog through scenic trails. Whether you're dashing through light snow or enjoying crisp winter air, this run is all about spreading holiday spirit rather than chasing fast times. Participants can choose between two distances: a 2.5k lap for those looking to enjoy the scenery at their own pace and a full 5.0k loop for those who want to explore more of the riverfront.
Every finisher will receive an eye-catching Christmas-themed medal, symbolizing your accomplishment in style. The real highlight? Meeting Santa himself! Each participant gets a small gift from the jolly old man as you exchange holiday greetings and smiles.
The event promises plenty of festive treats too — expect to hear Christmas music playing throughout the course and enjoy mince pies at the finish line. Fancy dress prizes will be awarded for those who show off their most creative costumes, adding an extra layer of fun to your run or walk.

While parking is available at pay-and-display spots around Durham city center, please note that runners should not park in the rowing club's car park. The venue will provide toilets and water refill stations for participants throughout the day.
Final race instructions and number pick-up details will be sent via email a week before the event date. Make sure to collect your bib at registration on the morning of the run, where you'll also find information about leaving bags securely near the start/finish area — though valuable items should not be left unattended for security reasons.
