Scone Palace Trail Runs 2027 invites you to explore the historic grounds of Scone Palace, set against the picturesque backdrop of Perthshire. Scheduled for April 2027, this popular duathlon returns with both Sprint and Standard distances, offering a unique blend of trail running through lush estate paths and cycling on scenic country roads.
Located in Perth (PH2 6BD), just follow signs to Perth Racecourse (PH2 6BG) to reach the venue. The event combines the beauty of Scone Palace's historic setting with challenging courses designed for all levels, from first-time duathletes to seasoned multisport athletes seeking a new challenge.
Participants can choose between two distances:
Sprint Duathlon
- Run: 5km
- Cycle: 19km
- Run: 2.5km
Perfect for those looking for an introductory experience or a shorter race day adventure.
Standard Duathlon
- Run: 10km
- Cycle: 38km
- Run: 5km
Ideal for experienced athletes aiming to push their limits with a longer course through Perthshire's rolling countryside and historic trails.
The event also features standalone trail runs of 5km and 10km, catering to runners who prefer the scenic routes without cycling. Detailed route maps are available online to help participants prepare in advance.
Transition management is seamless at Scone Palace. A secure transition area awaits athletes with designated racking spots clearly marked by race numbers for both running and cycling segments. Participants can bring small bags or boxes for personal items, but must ensure their bike number is visible before entering the transition zone.
Start times are staggered to accommodate each distance:
- Sprint Duathlon: 9:30am
- Standard Duathlon: 9:40am
Race timing will be provided by Timing Up North, ensuring accurate results for all competitors. Upon crossing the finish line, participants receive a commemorative medal, exclusive Wild Deer merchandise, and refreshments to fuel their post-race recovery.
