The Sewanee Slammer returns to Sewanee, Tennessee on October 17th, featuring a challenging yet scenic 20-mile loop through the University of the South's Perimeter Trail atop the Cumberland Plateau. Participants will navigate this picturesque route starting and finishing at the Mountain Goat Visitor Center in Sewanee Village, with parking available there as well as behind the center. The race offers runners the opportunity to explore the bluffs, overlooks, geologic features, lakes, ponds, and deciduous forests along the trail. After this date, the fee increases to $95. Race tees are guaranteed for those who sign up by September 27th and will be available at packet pickup or race day. Packet pickup is scheduled on Friday, October 16th from 5:00PM to 7:00PM CST at Shenanigans - Sewanee in Sewanee Village. On race morning, packets can also be picked up starting at 6:30AM until the start of the event. The Sewanee Slammer begins and concludes at the Mountain Goat Visitor Center located at 12595 Sollace M Freeman Highway. Participants must bring a valid photo ID for bib pickup on race day or during early packet pick-up if planning to attend. Sewanee is a small town in south-central Tennessee. It is known primarily for its natural scenery and association with the University of the South. There are roughly 2,500 residents, of whom about 1,500 are students at the University. Sewanee is positioned about halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga. The town and the roughly 13,000 acres surrounding it -- all of which are owned directly by the University -- are quaintly called "The Domain" by residents.
