Share the Road Gran Fondo 2026

On the 20th anniversary of the Share the Road Gran Fondo, cyclists from across Ontario will gather to honor OPP Sergeant Greg Stobbart and continue his legacy by promoting safer roads for all. The ride, which began after Sergeant Stobbart’s tragic death while training in Milton, Ontario, now serves as a powerful tribute to his commitment to road safety.
Departing from the Mattamy National Cycling Centre, located just south of where Sergeant Stobbart met with an accident due to reckless driving, participants will pedal through scenic Halton Hills on three fully supported routes: 40 km, 80 km, and 110 km. Each route offers a blend of challenging terrain that showcases the picturesque landscapes surrounding Milton.
The event is organized by the Share the Road Cycling Coalition (Coalition), an organization dedicated to fostering safer roads and communities through advocacy, education, and legislative reform. Over two decades, they have spearheaded initiatives such as Greg’s Law, enhanced penalties for collisions involving vulnerable road users, and the One Metre Safe Passing Law, significantly improving cycling safety in Ontario.
This year marks a new chapter with the introduction of Bikeability for Ontario—a pilot program inspired by successful UK models aimed at teaching children essential cycling skills. The initiative will equip young riders with confidence and knowledge to travel safely on roads across the province. By participating in this event, cyclists are not only enjoying an exhilarating day out but also contributing directly to a safer future for all road users.
Registration costs $250 per rider, which includes both a $125 entry fee covering support services like meals and refreshments post-ride, as well as a charitable contribution of the same amount. This donation is eligible for tax receipts automatically issued through Race Roster upon completion of registration.
