Cycling through Ontario’s picturesque Halton Region on September 20th, participants will join the Share the Road Gran Fondo for its momentous 20th Anniversary. This celebrated ride is more than just an athletic challenge; it's a powerful call to action aimed at enhancing road safety and fostering inclusive communities. The event commemorates OPP Sergeant Greg Stobbart, whose tragic cycling accident in 2006 inspired the formation of the Share the Road Cycling Coalition. His legacy continues to drive efforts toward safer roads for all cyclists across Ontario. Departing from the spacious Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, riders will choose between three scenic routes: a family-friendly 40km loop, an intermediate 80km course, and the challenging 110km option that takes them through some of Halton’s most beautiful municipalities. Each route is meticulously marked with rest stops every 20-30 kilometers to ensure comfort and safety throughout. The day begins early with a pre-race expo where participants can meet fellow cyclists, sponsors, and supporters before setting off on their chosen course. Post-event festivities will allow riders to unwind, reflect on the journey, and celebrate the impact of this year’s ride. Registration for the event includes a mandatory $125 charitable donation alongside an additional $125 registration fee, both payable through Race Roster. Participants will receive tax receipts automatically issued upon completion of their donations, which are crucial in supporting the ongoing work of the Share the Road Cycling Coalition. Without confirmation of this contribution, riders won’t be eligible to participate. Join us as we pedal towards a safer future for cyclists across Ontario and honor Sergeant Greg Stobbart’s enduring legacy.
