Experience the thrill of the Shenandoah Mountains as you tackle the breathtaking Shenandoah Mountain 100, set for September 5th and 6th, 2026. This Labor Day weekend event offers two incredible distances: a challenging 100-mile ultra-distance course and a more accessible 100-kilometer marathon. The terrain is designed to test even the most seasoned riders with its steep descents and demanding ascents. Prepare yourself for an abundance of big, sweet downhill sections that will keep your adrenaline pumping throughout the day. The event spans two days: Saturday kicks off at 8 AM with the 100-kilometer marathon distance; Sunday sees the ultra-distance challenge. Both courses offer GPS riding maps, and Google map overviews are available for each route to ensure you navigate smoothly through the scenic trails of Shenandoah National Park. Aid stations will be strategically placed to provide essential support: Station #2 has moved this year from its original location at 2/6 miles to the bottom of Wolf Ridge Trail. Camping is highly recommended, with options like Stokesville Campground and Natural Chimney available for those looking to extend their stay. Participants can set up camp in the Observatory field if sites are fully booked elsewhere. Two drop bags per rider will be allowed for the 100-kilometer event, while four will be permitted for the ultra-distance challenge. Aid stations along the course promise a supportive atmosphere with water, HEED, Hammer Gel, PB&J sandwiches, and Coke at select points. Cash prizes await top finishers in various categories including men's and women's open classes, singlespeed, U19 juniors, masters (50+), tandem, and Clydesdale. Registration is limited but still available until September 1st, with entry edits possible up to that date. A photo ID or license will be required for check-in at the Stokesville Campground next to the start/finish line on both days. Camping sites are recommended to ensure a comfortable stay during this epic weekend event. Volunteers play an integral role in making the Shenandoah Mountain 100 a success, especially as we seek to minimize our impact on the forest environment while maintaining participant safety and enjoyment. Non-riders can volunteer for various roles that contribute significantly to the overall experience of the race. Enjoy exploring Harrisonburg’s downtown area or Massanutten Resort's indoor water park after your ride, savor some delicious food at Billy Jack's Wing & Draft Shack or Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint, and visit local bike shop Shenandoah Bicycle Company for any gear needs. Video coverage from past events provides a glimpse into the excitement. Prepare to be immersed in nature’s beauty while pushing yourself to new limits on this unforgettable ride through the Shenandoah Mountains!
