Sikhs In The City - Dawn To Dusk Marathon & Ultra 2026

The 2026 Dawn To Dusk (D2D) races, set against the backdrop of Woodford Green's Teresa Gavin House car park on Southend Road, promise an exhilarating day for runners and spectators alike. This year’s event continues to uphold its tradition with a Team Relay Ultra covering a fixed distance of 50 kilometers over 25 laps.
The race is known not only for its challenging course but also for fostering a community atmosphere where participants are encouraged to adhere strictly to the "Be Nice" policy, ensuring an inclusive and respectful environment. Entry fees remain competitive at £39 for longer distances and £19 for the shorter 10km route. The Team Relay Ultra costs £95 per team, which includes up to five runners.
For clubs with ten registered entrants, a complimentary entry is offered for their eleventh participant as part of our loyalty program. However, due to our strict no refund or transfer policy, any cancellations will result in the option to defer your place to future events such as the Fauja Singh Birthday Challenge at the end of March 2027 or the Summer Samosa Ultra in June 2027.
The event is designed with both seasoned runners and newcomers in mind. With a limit of 299 entries for all D2D races combined, including the Team Relay Ultra, and an additional cap of 99 spots reserved specifically for the 10km race, participants can expect a well-managed course that maintains safety standards.
The route itself is undulating yet wheelchair-friendly, with most sections paved to ensure smooth running. The event kicks off at 8:04 am sharp, followed by the start of the shorter 10km race promptly at 11:00 am. Runners will have until 3:54 pm to complete their laps.
Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in both the Marathon (21 laps) and 10km categories after four runners from each distance cross the line, while Ultra race awards are presented at 4:00 pm based on lap completion counts. Participants benefit from chip timing that allows them to track their performance live via an electronic board.
The event offers a range of amenities including refreshment stations serving drinks and snacks like samosas and onion bhajis throughout each lap’s start/finish area, ensuring runners are well-nourished during the race. Free parking is available along the route near Mulalley & Co car park (GPS reference IG8 8FA), but participants are asked to keep a distance of at least 100 meters from the starting line.
Volunteers play an integral role in making this event possible, and anyone interested can sign up for free by contacting [email protected] Additionally, those looking to support charitable causes or showcase their organization's name on race t-shirts may contribute £150 towards our Clubhouse Appeal Fund. Race numbers can also be sponsored for the same amount.
