SilverBackTrails Wade’s Revenge

Wade’s Revenge Half Marathon Widdershins Edition invites runners to explore the enchanting North York Moors National Park from an unconventional perspective. This trail race, which covers approximately 13.1 miles, offers participants a chance to traverse ancient pathways and sheep trods that wind through dense forests, open fields, wooded valleys, and expansive moorland.
The route features the legendary Hole of Horcum, a breathtaking natural amphitheater nearly half a mile wide and over 400 feet deep. According to local lore, this stunning geological feature was created by an argument between giant Wade and his wife Belle, when he hurled a clump of earth that missed her but formed Blakey Topping.
Runners will encounter two checkpoint locations along the way where flapjacks, crisps, sweets, water, and pop are available to refuel. At the finish line, participants can enjoy tea, coffee, soup, and a roll as they celebrate their achievement.
This event is limited to just 50 runners who receive an exclusive medal upon completion. The race starts at Levisham Village Hall on Main Street in YO18 7NL with registration opening at 8:00 AM and the start time set for 8:45 AM sharp, adhering strictly to a five-hour cutoff.
Participants are required to carry essential items such as waterproof gear, emergency supplies like food and water, navigation tools including an OS Explorer 27 or Harvey’s North Yorkshire Moors Map, and a charged mobile phone with appropriate apps installed. A disclaimer must be signed confirming the proper kit, and there may be spot checks along the route.
Parking is available in Levisham village near the registration venue, details of which will be provided prior to the event. There are no refunds for cancellations but transfers can be made up until one week before race day. Proceeds from a £1 per car fee collected at registration support both the village hall and the national park.
Dogs are welcome in this scenic setting under strict leashed conditions, starting shortly after human participants have set off on their journey.
