About the Event

Experience the thrill of mountain bike orienteering amidst the rolling hills and picturesque landscapes of the South Downs National Park, located north of Brighton. This unique event offers riders an opportunity to explore terrain westward from previous races, promising breathtaking views and a diverse range of trails.
Participants will receive a waterproof OS A3 map marked with key checkpoints, giving them 2 or 3 hours to plan their own routes and visit as many checkpoints as possible. Whether you're an expert rider looking for a challenge or someone seeking exercise in the countryside, this event is open to all ages (12+) and skill levels.
The fourth of six events in the SLOW 2025/26 Series, it also counts towards the BMBO National League, comprising over 40-50 competitions. Riders can compete solo or form pairs and family teams for added camaraderie. The event requires participants to use the MapRun App on their iPhone or Android device; a link will be provided shortly before race day along with your PIN code at registration.
For those new to orienteering, basic map boards are available to borrow if you don't have one of your own. Upon completion of the course and return to the hall, refreshments await as riders compare their route choices over drinks and conversation. The South Downs area offers numerous accommodation options for extending your stay into a weekend adventure.
Organized by SLOW MBO in collaboration with regional clubs under BMBO guidelines, no membership is required but current 2026 BMBO membership is recommended (annual Day Rider memberships are free). Start times range from 9:00am to 10:30am. Don't miss this chance to immerse yourself in the scenic beauty and competitive spirit of mountain bike orienteering.
