Sol Riders Adventure Bike Camp at Oaks/Valley Forge PA
About the Event
Welcome to the Oak Ridge Adventure Bike Camp, held at Oaks, PA. Located just off West Drive, the camp offers a unique blend of biking and outdoor adventure for young cyclists aged 6 through 15. The camp is conveniently situated right next to Arnold's Fun Center, which provides a secure drop-off and pick-up point. For those looking to ease into their day, we have half-day camps from 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM with lunch served between 12:15 and 1:00 PM. Full-day campers can enjoy the experience from 9:00 AM until dismissal at 3:15 PM. Our adventure begins as soon as you step onto the Perkiomen Trail, where cyclists will pedal through scenic landscapes alongside the Schuylkill River. The trail offers a mix of on-bike and off-bike activities, including mini-hikes and creek walks that lead to local points of interest like Valley Forge Park, Lock 60, and Upper Schuylkill Valley Park Wildlife Sanctuary. For those who might face damp weather, we have prepared light rain slickers. However, if the skies open up unexpectedly, rest assured you'll find shelter at Arnold's Fun Center or in our dedicated indoor area reserved for campers. We offer a variety of indoor activities such as board and card games, movie time, and even space to enjoy some quiet reading. This year marks a special addition: ride pods tailored to age and ability levels. Each group will be led by experienced coaches who ensure that every participant is comfortable on their bike. Training wheels are not allowed; however, we do offer separate programs for those transitioning from four-wheelers to two-wheelers. To make the most of your adventure, bring a well-fitted bicycle in excellent condition and a helmet that matches. Don't forget to pack at least two spare tubes suitable for your tire size—these can be sourced from local bike shops if needed. A water bottle or hydration pack is essential, as are closed-toe shoes, snacks (no sharing), and personal medications such as inhalers or epipens. Highly recommended items include protective eyewear, sunscreen, bug repellent, and padded bike shorts to protect your legs against the rigors of riding over uneven terrain. A small backpack with extra socks, clothes, and a rain slicker is also handy in case of unexpected weather changes. Safety is paramount at Oak Ridge Adventure Bike Camp. Participants are expected to be prepared for learning about bike maintenance and safety rules on the trails. Coaches will guide you through essential terms and techniques, ensuring that everyone rides safely and respectfully towards others. Behavioral expectations include being attentive and respectful during sessions. Any incidents will be documented and communicated to parents or guardians based on their severity. Two offenses may result in a change of supervision, while three could lead to withdrawal from the program with no refunds provided. Oak Ridge Adventure Bike Camp offers two pricing options: $295 for half-day campers and $580 for full-day participants. This price includes additional snacks, sweet treats at day's end, and branded Sol Rider swag as a keepsake of your adventure.
