SOS - Middle Cove

Orienteering enthusiasts are invited to join the Saturday Orienteering Series Term 4, an exhilarating competition set on school grounds designed for quick thinking and sharp navigation. Each week features unique courses with fresh maps that challenge participants to make rapid decisions and find optimal routes through intricate layouts filled with buildings, courtyards, stairs, and open areas.
The event is not just about racing; it’s a social gathering where friends can team up or compete in friendly relays for 2 to 4 runners. Coaches are on hand to help beginners get started and assist everyone looking to improve their skills throughout the term. The atmosphere is lively and supportive, with participants enjoying the thrill of competition while also learning from one another.
Participants meet at Glenaeon Rudolf Steiner School in Middle Cove NSW, where a friendly crew will pair up solo runners with teammates if needed. Parking instructions advise against using Glenroy Avenue; instead, park on the west side of Eastern Valley Way and use the pedestrian passageway near the bus stop to reach the meeting point.
The event runs from 9:30am to 11am each week, offering a variety of courses including Warm Up (ideal for beginners), Short Line, Long Line, Score, and weekly relay options. SPORTident timing is used across all courses, with cards available for hire if needed.
Entry fees are $18 for adults and $15 for school students, both eligible for a 15% discount as members of the orienteering club using promo code "ONSW". Late entry after midday on Thursday incurs an additional $2 fee. All prices include GST and merchant fees.
