South Downs Way 50®

About the Event

The South Downs Way 50 Mile (SDW50) is an exhilarating foot race through the scenic beauty of the South Downs National Park, connecting Worthing and Eastbourne. This annual event challenges runners with a diverse landscape that includes chalk paths and bridleways from the outset, leading up to Chanctonbury Ring where participants join the iconic South Downs Way.
The majority of the SDW50 course mirrors the final 44 miles of its sister race, the SDW100. This shared section offers runners a mix of rolling hills, historic landmarks, and picturesque vistas as they traverse the designated trail until the very end. The race concludes with a lap around Eastbourne's track, providing an inspiring finish line for all participants.
As the 15th edition of this celebrated event, the SDW50 is also part of the prestigious 2027 50 Mile Grand Slam series, featuring four challenging races in total. For those seeking added peace of mind, XCover can be purchased to secure a refund should unforeseen circumstances prevent their participation.
Runners will experience an immersive journey through one of England's most beloved natural landscapes, making the SDW50 not just a race but an adventure.
This event promises runners a unique blend of historical and scenic routes, challenging them both physically and mentally as they navigate the South Downs Way.
