Spearfish Shred Squad - Youth Mountain Bike Program

Experience the thrill of mountain biking this summer at the Spearfish Shred Squad program for young riders aged 6-12. Spanning from June 1 to July 1, this initiative promises an engaging and enjoyable journey through the trails.
Sessions are held twice a week—Mondays and Wednesdays—from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. Each session begins at Spearfish Park for drills and nearby trail riding on Mondays, while Wednesday sessions kick off at Sandstone Park with similar activities.
What makes this program unique is its comprehensive approach. Participants receive a Shred Squad jersey along with refreshments including drinks and snacks during each class. Fun prizes are also up for grabs to keep the excitement level high.
The core of the program lies in professional coaching that covers essential bike skills and drills, ensuring every participant gains confidence on their bikes. Group trail rides offer real-world application of learned techniques, fostering a sense of camaraderie among participants as they tackle various terrains together.
Each session is meticulously structured to cater to diverse skill levels:
- A 10-minute warm-up to get the blood flowing.
- An icebreaker game and introduction on Day 1.
- Skill demonstrations followed by focused drills lasting 20 minutes each.
- A 35-minute trail ride where skills are applied in a practical setting, enhancing real-world experience.
- Concluding with games or challenges for fun and learning.
