Spunch! invites participants to embark on an adventurous treasure hunt with a twist, offering a unique mini-adventure suitable for all ages and abilities. This friendly and safe event takes place at The Clough Hall in Kidsgrove, Stoke-on-Trent, welcoming both locals and newcomers alike.
Participants have the flexibility to choose their preferred distance from 2 kilometers up to 22 kilometers on the day of the race. With three course duration options—60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes—you can select a challenge that suits your pace and stamina. The event encourages solo runners or walkers as well as teams of two or more.
The adventure unfolds through satellite punching using the MapRun app on smartphones, Garmin devices, or Apple Watches. Over 60 SpunchPoints are scattered across the course, inviting participants to explore and collect them all within their chosen time frame.
Registration opens at The Clough Hall from 5pm, allowing you to start your journey anytime between 5pm and 7:30pm. Early starters will enjoy the benefit of daylight as sunset occurs around 6:50pm; however, participants who continue into darkness should carry a head torch and wear hi-vis clothing.
The course weaves through scenic areas including Bathpool Park with its autumn foliage, Parrot's Drumble Woods, and urban paths in Talke and Woodshutts. The route also includes the junction of the Trent & Mersey Canal and Macclesfield Canal near Harecastle Tunnel. While some sections are flat, this course is notably hilly, offering opportunities to navigate around challenging terrain.
The event venue provides a warm welcome with on-site registration, parking, help desks for newcomers, bag drop facilities, restrooms, food stalls serving great value meals and drinks (details confirmed closer to the date), and finish line amenities. The pub at Clough Hall is both child-friendly and dog-friendly, ensuring everyone can enjoy their experience.
Getting there by car? Just a 10-minute drive from J16 M6 or a 15-minute journey from J17 M6 makes it easily accessible for those coming from Stoke, Newcastle, Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach, Congleton, Biddulph, and Leek. Alternatively, the event is conveniently located just an 800-meter walk from Kidsgrove Station on both the main Crewe-Stoke line and the Manchester-Stockport-Macclesfield-Congleton lines.
