Spunch! invites participants to embark on an exhilarating mini-adventure that combines the thrill of exploration with the joy of friendly competition. This unique treasure hunt-style race offers something for everyone, regardless of age or experience level. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out, Spunch! welcomes all runners and walkers looking for a fun-filled evening.
The event takes place at The Pheasant Inn in Wellington, Telford, offering participants the flexibility to choose between 2k and 22k routes based on their preference and stamina. With three course durations available—60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes—you can select your preferred challenge level once you arrive.
Participants will navigate through a vibrant landscape that includes both urban areas near Wellington's Market Street and the rolling countryside to the south of town. The terrain features a mix of tarmac roads, off-road paths, and scenic woodlands like Limekiln Wood. While much of the course is set in open spaces, there are also sections where you'll need to navigate through more built-up areas.
Using the MapRun app on your smartphone or wearable device, you’ll track your progress as you visit over 60 SpunchPoints scattered throughout the route. The event organizers provide plenty of support for newcomers and offer assistance with pairing up if you prefer not to go solo. Additionally, dogs are welcome but must be kept under control at all times.
Registration opens at 5pm on the day of the race, allowing participants to start anytime between then and 7:30 pm. The last possible starts for each course duration are set at 7:15 pm (for the 90-minute option) and 6:45 pm (for the 2-hour route).
The Pheasant Inn will provide a warm welcome with its indoor and outdoor spaces, perfect for enjoying refreshments after your adventure. The venue is conveniently located near Wellington Train Station, making it easily accessible by public transport from nearby towns like Telford, Shrewsbury, Whitchurch, Audlem, Market Drayton, Loggerheads, Eccleshall, Newport, Penkridge, Wolverhampton, Albrighton, Shifnal, Bridgnorth, and Much Wenlock.
