About the Event

Spunch! is an innovative, family-friendly adventure that invites participants to explore the charming countryside around Brown Edge near Stoke-on-Trent through a unique treasure hunt format. This activity caters to all ages and skill levels—no prior experience necessary—and welcomes both locals and newcomers with open arms.
Participants can choose from various distances ranging from 2 kilometers to 22 kilometers, allowing everyone to find an option that suits their fitness level and time constraints. The event offers three course durations: 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 120 minutes, giving you flexibility in your race day planning.
The adventure unfolds with the use of a colorful map and satellite punching via the MapRun app on smartphones or wearable devices like Garmin watches and Apple Watches. With over sixty SpunchPoints scattered across the course, there’s plenty to discover and collect during your journey.
Whether you’re running solo, pairing up with friends, or joining as part of a larger group, Spunch! ensures everyone can participate in their preferred style. Assistance is readily available for newcomers who might need guidance, and dogs are welcome too—provided they remain on a leash at all times.
Registration opens promptly at 5 PM, allowing participants to start anytime between then and half past seven. The latest starting time varies by course length: 7:15 PM for the 90-minute option and 6:45 PM for those opting for the two-hour adventure.
The event takes place in a picturesque setting with plenty of daylight throughout. Participants will traverse through woodlands, trails around Knypersley Reservoir, and enjoy panoramic views from Marshes Hill. The course is predominantly countryside terrain but also includes sections within Brown Edge village itself, offering an engaging mix of underfoot conditions ranging from tarmac to off-road paths.
The Bush serves as the hub for Spunch!, providing a warm welcome with indoor and outdoor spaces depending on weather conditions. Here you can find food, drinks, registration facilities, bag drop areas, toilets, start/finish lines, results announcements, and more—all conveniently located at or near the venue itself.
Getting to The Bush is straightforward; it’s less than 20 minutes from M6 Junctions 15 and 16. This prime location makes it easily accessible for those coming from nearby towns such as Leek, Biddulph, Congleton, Macclesfield, Buxton, Cheadle, Stoke-on-Trent, or The Potteries.
Join us at Spunch! to experience a fun-filled evening of exploration and discovery. With great views, well-dressed wells after the annual Well Dressing festival, and challenging hills, there’s something for everyone in this hilly yet rewarding adventure.
The venue will provide ample food options and refreshments throughout the day, ensuring you stay energized during your quest to collect as many SpunchPoints as possible. So come along and immerse yourself in a unique blend of sporty fun and scenic exploration!

Scenic view of

Stoke-on-Trent is a city in England, approximately half-way between Birmingham and Manchester.
