Spunch! offers an exciting twist on traditional adventure sports, inviting participants to embark on a unique mini-adventure through Lyme Park’s enchanting woodland and parkland trails. This friendly and inclusive event caters to all ages and skill levels, making it perfect for both newcomers and seasoned adventurers. Scheduled during the lively SPUNCHFEST weekend from August 21st to 23rd, Spunch! presents a flexible format that allows you to choose between running or walking distances ranging from 2km to 22km. The event offers three course durations: 60 minutes, 120 minutes, and 180 minutes, with the option to select your preferred duration on-site. Entry includes access to Lyme Park’s stunning grounds and gardens, as well as complimentary parking—a significant perk usually costing £9 for adults and £4.50 for children. Participants will navigate through a vibrant landscape using MapRun technology via smartphones or wearables like Garmin watches and Apple Watches. The challenge involves visiting over 80 SpunchPoints scattered across the park’s diverse terrain. Whether you prefer to tackle this adventure solo, in pairs, or with friends and family groups of three or more, there are plenty of opportunities for support and guidance from experienced staff who will assist new participants throughout the event. Additionally, well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome to join the fun as long as they remain under control at all times. Registration opens promptly at 3pm with start times ranging between 3pm and 5pm, ensuring that even latecomers can participate in shorter courses. The Timber Yard Cafe serves as a central hub for registration, bag drop facilities, restrooms, starting lines, finish areas, results announcements, and post-event refreshments. The course itself winds through Lyme Park’s picturesque woodland paths and parkland trails, offering hilly sections alongside accessible routes suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. Participants can expect varied underfoot conditions from smooth tarmac to rugged off-road terrain, providing a diverse challenge that caters to all abilities while ensuring everyone has the chance to discover new areas of this beloved National Trust site.
