Stride Together

The Stride Together: Run & Walk for TCE is a revitalized community event scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Altona, Manitoba. Formerly known as the Curtis Klassen Memorial Fund Run, the event has been rebranded under the leadership of The Community Exchange (TCE). This transition marks a new chapter for Altona’s long-standing tradition, maintaining the beloved 5K and 10K formats while introducing fresh branding and family-oriented festivities. The event serves as a vital fundraiser to support TCE’s mission of fostering a safer, healthier, and more connected local community through various social programs and engagement initiatives.

Altona is a vibrant agricultural town in south-central Manitoba, located approximately 100 kilometers south of Winnipeg, with a population of about 4,300 residents. The town is a prominent center for the Canadian Mennonite community and is widely recognized as the "Sunflower Capital of Canada." The demographic profile is primarily of German and Mennonite heritage, though the community is increasingly diversifying due to local industry growth. With a strong economic base in agriculture and manufacturing (notably the head office of Friesens Corporation), the median household income is roughly $74,000 CAD. Participants can choose between a 5K or 10K route, both of which are open to runners and walkers of all skill levels.
