Nestled near Redruth in Cornwall, the Summer Turkey Trot is set to take place at Tricky’s Hotel, Bar and Restaurant on Tolgus Mount. Organized by the Cornwall Athletic Club as part of Round 8 in the Cornwall Grand Prix Series, this year marks the event's 51st running. Registration for runners will open from 5:00pm onwards in the Garden Room at Tricky’s Hotel, where participants can collect their race numbers and timing chips. Parking is available on-site, along with a baggage store inside the Garden Room (items left here are stored at your own risk). The 4-mile road race kicks off promptly at 7:00pm from Tolgus Mount, taking runners through scenic routes towards Illogan via Higher Broad Lane and Barncoose Terrace before circling back. This course is certified by ARC under Permit Number - ARC/26/0534. Competitors will find no water stations along the route but should be prepared for a mix of road surfaces as they navigate through residential areas and bustling junctions, particularly near new housing developments after Barncoose Roundabout. Runners must adhere to marshal instructions at all times; however, it's crucial that participants are vigilant about their own safety when crossing intersections. For health and safety reasons, personal audio devices such as MP3 players are strictly prohibited during the race. Any runner found using these will be disqualified immediately by marshals stationed along the route. The top three male and female finishers receive Whirlwind Sports vouchers worth £50 for first place, £30 for second, and £25 for third. Additionally, there are age category awards from Under 20 to Over 75+, as well as team prizes for both men's and women's teams. All participants will be chip-timed but all placings will be determined by gun-to-chip time. It’s important that timing chips remain on the ankle throughout the race until they are returned at Tricky’s Hotel following your finish. Race presentations, featuring awards and mementos for top performers (guaranteed only to the first 450 entries), will commence shortly after the last runner crosses the line back at Tricky's. This event is sponsored by local favorites Tricky’s Hotel and Whirlwind Sports, ensuring a memorable experience from start to finish. For those unable to compete on race day, entry transfers are allowed until Tuesday, 14th July, noon.
