Sundance to Spearfish Marathon

Just shy of the midway point, you'll pass by the winter film site for "Dances with Wolves," adding a touch of cinematic magic to your route. From mile 2.00 to 2.56, prepare yourself for one tough hill that gains 169 feet in elevation—this challenge will test your strength and endurance.
The latter half of the race takes you through hardtop roads on Spearfish Canyon Hwy (Route 14A), a National Scenic Byway. This section continues to descend steeply, with an impressive drop of another 1,364 feet as it winds its way down to the charming town of Spearfish. The route is shared by the Leading Ladies Marathon, ensuring you'll have company and camaraderie throughout your journey.
