Table Rock Ultras invites runners to challenge themselves on rugged terrain and breathtaking vistas along the Tanawha Trail, offering both 50K and 30K distances that cater to trail enthusiasts seeking adventure. The races are open exclusively to participants aged 18 and over. The 50K route takes you through a diverse landscape of single-track trails, double tracks, and gravel roads as it climbs the summit of Table Rock Mountain before descending back down. Along this challenging course, runners will encounter numerous creek crossings, technical rock-hopping sections, steep ascents and descents that total approximately 11,000 feet in elevation gain and loss. The route is known for its stunning views from the mountain top. The shorter 30K follows a similar path but turns around after reaching the second aid station, offering runners an opportunity to experience much of the terrain without tackling the full summit climb. Aid stations are strategically placed throughout both courses, providing essential hydration and nutrition options. Runners should expect water, Gatorade in varying flavors, soft drinks, and snacks such as chips, pretzels, trail mix, and PB&J sandwiches at each station. To minimize waste this year, participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles or bladders for refills. The event concludes back at Steele Creek Park & Family Campground, where runners can enjoy post-race refreshments including craft beer (for those 21+), food, and additional swag such as race t-shirts and hoodies for finishers. Camping options are available on-site with discounted rates offered specifically for the race participants. Registration policies include a refund window of up to 45 days before the event date, after which only specific exceptions will be considered (military deployment orders, pregnancy, or death in immediate family within two weeks). No transfers but volunteering opportunities may be an alternative option if you need to cancel due to injury. Table Rock Ultras is a celebration of nature and community spirit, inviting runners to push their limits while immersed in the beauty and challenges of Western North Carolina's wild trails.
