Adventure Racing Ireland invites adult beginners and emerging endurance athletes to embark on their adventure racing journey through a supportive pathway designed specifically for newcomers. This initiative is tailored for individuals who are intrigued by the sport but may lack experience, confidence, or established teammates. Whether you have a background in running, cycling, paddling, hillwalking, or simply enjoy outdoor challenges, this programme offers an accessible entry point into adventure racing. The event features a range of activities to familiarize participants with essential skills such as non-technical mountain biking, foot navigation, trail running, map reading, and kayaking. The day includes a short training race that simulates the experience of competing in an actual adventure race while still providing ample learning opportunities. Participants will be given tasks, maps, and timeframes to complete a multi-discipline course, allowing them to practice their newly acquired skills under simulated racing conditions. All attendees are encouraged to bring a packed lunch, thermos, snacks, and appropriate gear for the day's activities. The event takes place at UL Sport Activity Centre with parking available at Two Mile Gate. To participate in this training event, you must be an ARI member or join Adventure Racing Ireland prior to registration. This unique opportunity provides a welcoming environment where beginners can build confidence, form teams, and prepare themselves for the excitement of competitive adventure racing through the ARI Team Series. Registration for new participants closed on Friday 10th July 2026. For more information or to join Adventure Racing Ireland, visit their website.
