The 42nd Stretton Skyline Fell Race

The Stretton Skyline, an arduous 19-mile fell race, is designed for seasoned runners who are well-versed in the challenges of navigating rugged terrain. This grueling course takes participants on a scenic journey through the Shropshire Hills, featuring ascents to several prominent summits including Pole Bank, The Ragleth, Caer Caradoc, The Lawley, and finally, The Long Mynd.
The route is largely unmarked, requiring runners to possess strong navigational skills. While some sections in Little Stretton, Church Stretton, and between The Lawley and the final climb are clearly marked for guidance, participants must be prepared to rely on their own map reading abilities throughout much of the race. Extreme caution should be exercised when crossing the A49 twice during the event.
Four water stations along the way offer runners essential hydration, but all competitors will need to carry dibbers that automatically record time and position at each summit checkpoint. This ensures accurate tracking for both participants and organizers alike.
With a minimum age requirement of 19 years old, this race is strictly intended for experienced fell runners who are confident in their abilities to complete the course within its strict time limits.
