The Viper 5 mile trail run (Autumn edition)

For runners looking to challenge themselves on an autumn evening, the TRA Permit 8449 race offers a unique and scenic route through the countryside. This small-capacity event is open only to those aged 18 and over and operates on a first-come-first-served basis.
Participants should be prepared for potentially finishing in darkness as they follow the traditional anti-clockwise course, so bringing a head torch is highly recommended. Non-TRA or EA members will need to pay an additional £2 levy upon registration.
Parking options are limited but convenient; you can park opposite the pub where bike racks are also available, or take advantage of a free public carpark in Mill Green just a 10-minute downhill walk away from the start point. To minimize traffic and make the most out of your experience, organizers strongly encourage carpooling.
Before setting off on race day, it's advisable to download both the Strava route (https://www.strava.com/routes/3044942874332085790) and any additional narrative instructions from the event website. Given that this is a 100% self-sufficient race, runners are expected to carry their own water and provisions throughout the course.
Safety measures include mandatory phone and head torch use; high-visibility clothing is recommended along with waterproof gear if needed due to inclement weather conditions. Race numbers will be distributed starting at 6:10 PM, followed by a mass start promptly at 6:30 PM. A tail runner will assist any runners who may need help navigating the course.
Upon crossing the finish line, participants can redeem their race number for a complimentary drink of choice—be it beer, wine, soft drinks, or hot beverages—at either The Viper or The Cricketers pub. Both establishments offer excellent dining options; however, organizers advise booking tables in advance to ensure availability and smooth service.
For those planning on staying for dinner with larger groups, the more spacious setting at The Cricketers may be a better choice due to potential capacity constraints at The Viper during peak times.
