The Bideford Duathlon

Participants will gather at the bustling Quay in Bideford for an early morning mass start at 9:30 AM sharp. The race begins with a picturesque 5-kilometer run along the historic quayside and over the iconic Bideford Old Bridge. Runners then head onto the Tarka Trail, which takes them towards Torrington before turning around at the Iron bridge.
After changing gears for their cycling segment in the transition area located near the Quay's public car park, athletes will embark on a 25-kilometer bike ride that winds through charming villages and bustling towns. The route includes Weare Gifford, where cyclists must navigate past Torrington Golf Club before heading into Monkleigh via Rakeham Hill. Cyclists continue along the A386 to Saltrens in Bideford, completing their journey back at the Quay.
The event concludes with a 5-kilometer run that retraces parts of the initial route but takes runners through Ethelwynn Close and onto the Tarka Trail towards Instow. The second running leg is both challenging and rewarding as it offers scenic views along the trail before looping back to the finish line at Bideford Quay.
